The Greek Festival 2009

The Greek Festival is the festivals of all festivals. They have entertainment, kiddie rides, jewelry and paintings, but everyone runs to get in the food line. The line wasn't too bad this year. According to my stopwatch, we stood in line for only one hour and one minute ... a record. The line went down the stairs, back and forth four times like a Disneyland line, down the middle of the tent, outside and looped around the front of the tent and then outside on the sidewalk halfway down the block. Every minute was worth it. The chicken kebab is so yummy that you forget you are in public and start gnawing on it like an animal. You can't eat it fast enough. The gyro is so good that it doesn't matter if the cucumber yogurt sauce is running down your chin. The lemon rice fills any of the holes in your stomach that the other food didn't fill. As we stood in line for the pastries, visions of baklava ran through my head. We got a smattering of pastries and then quickly stepped into the church to pay homage and then ran home to eat the pastries. I tried to get a picture of the millions of people, but the pictures don't do it justice. Next year, don't miss it... Seriously.
