Doin' the Dew Tour

The Dew Tour was in town last weekend. They have competitions on motorcycles, BMX bikes and skateboards. Julie and I went on Saturday. Unfortunately it started raining really hard and so they had to cancel the skaters on the outdoor track. Inside the Delta Center, we watched some guys practicing their skateboarding skills on the big half pipe. It looks so scary to me. Later on they had the skateboarders that didn't get to compete do an impromptu trick competition. Apparently the set up was for bikes and not skateboards so it was almost the same trick everytime. Go down the ramp, up the ramp and crash. It was pretty cool. Apparently the number one skateboarder, Ryan Scheckler was there and all of the girls were screaming everytime he did anything. He is the one wearing the blue and red hat in the pictures. He got tired of the ramp crash performance and started jumping off the other side. That is him in the third picture. He is 17 and has been competing since he was 14 so he is the "veteran" I had no idea all of these sports were so big in Utah. There were thousands of people there. It was fun even though I didn't get Ryan's autograph.
